Quite ripe at first, this needed a lot of air before some of the fruit began to fall away. Even then, the wine feels in an awkward stage and does not yet reveal very much, which lowers the sense of balance for now. What is striking, however, is the texture, which almost rolls across the tongue and gives the wine real physical presence. The finish is strong and well held. Given the small 2024 crop in the Saar and the concentration that can come with it, this feels like a wine with beautiful ageing potential, even if it is not especially giving today.
