I expected this 2017 to be more ready to drink, but it needed quite a lot of air before it began to show itself properly. With time in the glass, the wine found better balance and gained in weight, which is part of what makes Lafon so compelling. For Meursault, this is a relatively lean style, less built on volume and texture than one might expect, yet still clearly shaped and composed. It remains a beautiful Meursault, with restraint, quiet depth, and a good, steady finish.
