DOMINIO DEL ÁGUILA Peñas Aladas Gran Reserva
Red Wine, Tempranillo
2012 – Powerful – A warm, dry growing season produced fully ripe, concentrated Tempranillo with generous colour and aromatic intensity. The wines are broad and structured, with dark fruit, mature tannins, and substantial ageing potential. The style is ripe and powerful, though the best examples retain freshness from altitude and cool nights.
2013 – Elegant – A cool, irregular, and difficult season brought disease pressure and challenging harvest conditions. The wines are generally lighter and fresher, with red fruit, moderate alcohol, bright acidity, and finer tannins. Strict selection was essential, but successful examples show perfume and finesse rather than concentration.
2014 – Elegant – A comparatively cool season produced a fresher and more restrained expression of Tinto Fino. The wines show vivid red and black fruit, moderate concentration, lively acidity, and refined tannins. They favour aromatic clarity and balance over the richness found in hotter vintages.
2015 – Powerful – A warm, sunny, and relatively dry vintage produced excellent ripeness and concentration. The wines are deep and generous, with ripe black fruit, broad texture, substantial tannins, and considerable ageing potential. The strongest examples combine richness with enough freshness to remain balanced. The Consejo Regulador rated the vintage Excellent.
2016 – Classic – A relatively balanced season allowed gradual ripening and good preservation of acidity. The wines combine ripe dark fruit with freshness, firm but refined tannins, and clear varietal definition. They are structured and ageworthy without the excessive weight of the hottest years.
2018 – Elegant – A cooler, wetter, Atlantic-influenced season produced a fresher and more restrained style. The wines are aromatic and graceful, with red fruit, lively acidity, moderate alcohol, and fine tannins. They generally offer less density than 2015 or 2017 but greater transparency and earlier accessibility.
