My first time tasting this Nuits in bottle, and it already shows remarkable promise. The wine leans toward the darker and slightly heavier side of Pinot, but without losing its balance. Fermented spontaneously and raised with 100% whole bunch, it carries the same signature as the other reds, yet feels especially marked by place. Le Coteau des Bois sits on a higher, stonier part of the slope above Nuits-Saint-Georges, which gives the wine a more exposed and characterful expression. The texture is, as so often with Faure, a clear strength, and the finish is long, steady, and convincing.
