My first Hospices de Nuits wine from Pierre-Olivier Garcia, and that alone made it especially interesting, given how clearly he usually interprets the terroir of Nuits-Saint-Georges. This needed a lot of air before it began to show character, and it feels very much built for the long haul, with the fruit still sitting quite prominently at this stage. The balance is good once the wine opens, though the texture is a little thinner than expected. Even so, the wine remains clearly Nuits-Saint-Georges in character, with a nice, steady finish. Overall, a good wine, and one I would be curious to revisit in a few years to follow its development.
